All things written in this post are not sponsored or payed for in any way, nor anybody else but the author herself expresses his/hers ideas or opinions of any kind in writing. All things put out in the text are subjective impressions and opinions of the mouthy author.

Jimmyja sam primjetila prvi put  u Frankfurtu prošle godine, 2012.
First time I noticed Jimmy  on Frankfurt fair last year, 2012., while he was spraying the most oversized canvas on the largest booth  and making probably the biggest mess ever seen there. In that moment, while I was passing by, there were no visitors nearby. I could undisturbedly watch that scene, standing a bit away. His gigantic work needed a bit distanced view, but it was more because of my feeling that I was witnessing the process which should not be interfered.
I am so sorry I didn’t make a photo of that scene last year..imagine a tatooed biker in a fancy enviroment of his megapopular brand, while spraying with the acrylics all over the place and trudging on the PVC someone hopefully put to protect the floor. I really can’t say what happened to the floor afterwards, but I surely did remember that scene, although I didn’t quite catch dude’s name. All I remembered was that it happened on the  Liquitex booth.
This year- same guy. And they gave him a red carpet .
Liquitex booth is an obligotary stop for me on every fair, given the fact that Art Shop is one of their retailer shops for the last 6-7 years.  One of the most quality brands is  my personal favourite choice when it comes to acrylic paints and mediums…wait a minute,  I forgot to tell you:  Liquitex actually invented  acrylics and mediums in the form they are known today. I’ll tell you a little bit more of those historical facts some other time, but it’s important to know that they have always “went” very contemporarily, always presenting phenomenal new products with the common denominator: innovation. In this manner this year they have represented a new line of acrylic paint markers in two sizes. Yes, you’ve heard it well: real paint in marker! A new shape for the paint and a new quality for the marker Smiješak s namigivanjem!

I tako smo upoznali Jimmia Leslie u njegovoj rockerskoj oazi.
And that is how we met Jimmy in his rocking oasis.

Jimmy Leslie is graduated artist of New York Academy of Art, and former college professor with 15 years of experience, who now works as Resident Artist for Liquitex and runs  Artist Outreach program through which he educates anybody in art business who wants to learn- students, young and old artists, fellow professors, shops, schools…Just like the first time I saw him, there were sparks all around his working area. This time there wasn’t any paint around, because he had just finished his work, but those were sparks of energy, enthusiasm, positivity, passion and creativity ( and, I guess,   the markers are easier to clean up after Smiješak s namigivanjem). Meeting him was a confirmation of my deep belief- when somebody lives him/herself to his fullest, when he/she works and lives his true self, he can’t go unnoticed.
He told us a story that started this series of painting that he worked on during the Fair. His wife, professional photographer and he made some photos during the New Jersey Race of Gentlemen Vintage car and motorbike
Lako ćete prepoznati svakog lika s fotografije…
You can easily recognize any of the characters from the photo…

I couldn’t tell the story like he did- with all of his laughter and waving hands, with all the described details and situations from which he named his paintings, which biker from the photo started it all, and why is one of the paintings called…
DSC06445,
Stoga, pođite na njegov blog i pročitajte originalnu verziju priče.
So, do visit his blog and read more about original version of the story.
Why I have chose Jimmy Leslie as hobbyManiaK Guest, among all of those numerous artists I have met during the Fair? There will surely be some more stories about some of them on this blog, but here is why Jimmy was chosen: it has something to do with the way he talks loudly, openly and generously about the importance of education of the artists, and about his family, his teenage son, wife and daughter; about advices his father gave him when he was young and how he thought him of the difference between cheap and professional material… I was listening to that circle of his experiences going around and around, all the stuff that he talks about  make sense and are connected, they are  all part of him, who he is, his life and his art, each one builds up on the one before her, and on and on…He talks with selfconfidence of a man  who understands that uncertainty is constant, but has no problem to deal with it.  His artwork that is about to be made has no schedule, it could happen any time, be caught in any moment. I guess that is- Art itself. The Creation in original. Catching moments, and go with them. What do you think?
